About the Author


Barbara Long, M.D., Ph.D. has over 30 years of clinical experience working with young people, families, and people from all walks of life. Holding two Harvard degrees, she is a Board-certified psychiatrist, a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a Senior Examiner and Member of the National Examining Team of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Committee on Work and Organizations of the profession's oldest "think tank," the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry. In addition, for over 30 years, she has volunteered for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions of Harvard College as an interviewer and support person for students, families, and college counselors. In 2009, the Harvard Admissions Office awarded her a Hiram Hunn Award for her service.
